History and Development
The forerunner of Kien Giang Technology and Economics College was Rach Gia Technical School, established in 1966. The school is one of the main units to train workers for the Kien Giang province and neighboring provinces with various levels: college, vocational college, professional secondary, vocational secondary and inter-university. Currently, the school has been following "quality management system with ISO 9001:2008 standard " and was certified by QUACERT Center.
Training objectives of the school is to associate training with reality. Trained students must meet the requirements of the labor market. In recent years, the school has strongly invested about facilities, equipments, improved curriculum and teaching methods to enhance the quality of output workers. Currently, there are three campuses located in Rach Gia city, in Hon Dat district - Kien Giang province, and a dormitory with the capacity of 500 students.
In terms of school organization, the school consists of Rector Boards, 7 functional offices, 11 faculties and 2 centers. Management staff and teaching staff now have over 200 people with 20% of teachers having postgraduate degrees, 75% with graduate and college degrees. Among these, many teachers have won the prize of the excellent provincial and national teachers. Further study and knowledge updating for teachers are performed regularly and constantly. In addition, the school has received the support and joint training of many educational institutions in and out of the country. The school has remarkable growth steps in the context of the socio-economic condition of the province. However, compared with the requirements of the country, training teachers, facilities and equipment of the school are still on the going-on process. We are continuing to meet the learning and working needs of the labor force of Kien Giang province in the coming time.
